Transfer is the procedure by which course credits earned at one institution are accepted toward a degree at another.

Articulation refers to institution or system policies or formal agreements by which transfer credits are accepted. In New Hampshire, transfer articulation is an initiative to create academic program agreements so that successful transfer can occur between community colleges and four-year institutions.

The transfer articulation tables developed by CCSNH and USNH provides a "snapshot" of academic programs which have established transfer agreements. The two NH public higher education systems work together to establish these agreements to increase access, decrease course redundancy, and facilitate opportunities for all qualified students to complete their higher education goals. The matrix helps students to identify the NH institutions and programs which have transfer agreements, so they can maximize transfer of credits as they move between the different higher education sectors.

Because of frequent changes, complete and up-to-date information should be obtained directly from the academic advisors at the institution to which the student plans to transfer.

General Elective: a course that will transfer as a general elective only. This course will not satisfy any portion of the “major” requirements at the four-year institution.

Major Elective:  is a course whose credit may be used to satisfy an unspecified requirement for the particular major identified in the Transfer Credit Database.
